Each month, the Chamblee High PTSA celebrates the accomplishments of our outstanding Bulldogs - students and staff. Help us in congratulating these Chamblee Bulldogs for their hard work and perseverance.

*The following announcements do not include mention of any students without a current media release on file with the school. 

Academics
State Science Fair

Congratulations to the following students who participated in the state science fair held last month in Athens: 

  • Jack B., Aditya R. & Matthew W. - Second Honors Senior Division (Overall Fair), 1st Place Senior Division Award [American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics]
  • Deeksha K. - First Honors (Overall Fair), Georgia BioGENEius Challenge Award Runner Up, Senior Division Best in Category [Translational Medical Science], Georgia Science & Engineering Fair Top Ten in Senior Division (Overall Fair)

 

Latin American Association

Latino students from Stanhope's World Geography class presented their projects that used original and secondary research to investigate the Latino community in Atlanta at the Latin American Association on April 12th.

Foreign Language

Garrett M., a Spanish IV student, taught by Sra. Anderson, represented Chamblee High School on April 29 at the West Metro Foreign Language Forum. Garrett competed in Spanish and earned a Superior score. He was the only student to represent CHS and DCSD at this year’s event. Way to go Garrett!

National History Day

Anthony C., Temple L., Gia C., and Allison C. placed at the regional National History Day Competition and will represent the state of Georgia at the 2023 National History Day National Contest at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland in June! Temple and Anthony who swept the Individual Documentary winning first and second place are pictured in the attached photo.

CodeQuest Competition

Chamblee took 3rd place at the Lockheed Martin CodeQuest competition this weekend.  We had two teams compete in the advanced and novice division. Aiden Lee and Dylan Banister placed 3rd in the Advanced Division. This year 16 students were a part of the CodeQuest Academy and mentored virtually by a Lockheed Martin engineer.   Additionally two of our students were invited to apply for internships and are awaiting their acceptance letters for positions this summer.

Athletics
Girls Varsity Soccer Team

A huge congratulations to the Chamblee Girls Varsity Soccer Team for winning the State Championship on May 4!!  The girls played Greenbrier High School in the State Finals, and finished the game with another shutout and final score of 9-0!  Goals were scored by Solai W (4), Cameron P (2), Kara C, Ansley H, and Alessandra W.  Assists by Solai W (2), Kara C (2), Ansley H, Gabby K, Kourtney O, and Alessandra W.  Congrats to Solai W, who was Player of the Game!  Outstanding job Lady Bulldogs!!!


Girls Tennis

Congrats to the Girls Tennis Team for advancing to the Elite 8 and for ending the regular season as Region Champs!

Girls Track

Congratulations to the CHS Girls Track team for their Region 4-AAAAA Championship!

Girls’ Golf

Congratulations to the Girls’ Golf Team for their runner up finish and qualifying for the state championship. Contributing scores were Catherine H., Sophie L., and Julia M.. Also, congratulations to Dylan L. for qualifying for the state tournament as an individual. Go Dogs!

Positive Athlete - Regional Award Winners

The Positive Athlete organization has named their Regional Award Winners for the Atlanta Region, where Student-Athletes representing 28 different boys’ and girls’ high school sports, two coaches, and North Atlanta High School have been selected as the “Most Positive” in their categories. Naa Adua A. has been selected from CHS as a region finalist for swim and dive/volleyball.

Clubs and Extracurriculars
JROTC

KUDOS to the Chamblee High School JROTC First Robotics Team. These cadets did an outstanding job coming together, placing second in the JROTC Division in Georgia, which entitled them to an invite to the VEX World Competition in Dallas, Texas. They ranked 13 out of 56 teams in their division during the VEX Competition. Their hard work, perseverance, and dedication is a true testament to their success.

Arts & Music
Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards

Chamblee was one of 50 schools to participate in the Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Shuler Awards) adjudication process this season, and our production of Fiddler on the Roof earned an honorable mention and two nominations for the upcoming awards show:

Pit Orchestra, Nick H. (12), Honorable Mention

Lighting Design, David A. and Jacob L.(10), nomination

Best Supporting Performer, nomination

 

We will also have several students participating in the televised, live theatre production of the awards show itself. 

Rowan D. (11), Lilly G. (10) and Elea Q. (12) will partner with professionals to work on the Sound and Audio and the House Management STAR crews respectively

 

Atlanta High School Art Exhibition

This past weekend Chamblee high students had 10 pieces of art in the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition at the dogwood festival. Sunday there was an art competition called a throwdown between schools. There were several different events that students practiced for and then competed against other schools. Chamblee won 15 individual awards and one collaborative award, taking third place overall.

World of 8 Billion Contest

Amalee M.'s short film "Women's Education in Our World of 8 Billion, has been selected as a finalist in the High School Gender Equality category of the World of 8 Billion contest!
