GOVERNOR'S HONORS PROGRAM

Congratulations to the 37 finalists and 6 alternates selected by GOSA to attend Georgia Southern University this summer! The residential summer session takes place June 18 - July 15, 2023. Attendees will participate in intensive curriculum designed to provide them with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom: instruction 6 days a week, major concentration in the AM, electives, seminars, guest speakers in the PM.

The state accepted over 4,200 nominees. The district had over 250 students participate in our local application and interview process with 194 being nominated for the state level competition, which is the largest nomination number from DeKalb ever. Following a review process, nominees chosen as semifinalists were invited to the campus of Georgia Southern University for interviews and auditions.

Please congratulate and celebrate the young people who were able to advance to the state’s highest level. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any member of the District GHP Committee: Mrs. Kristen Drake, Mr. Woodsen Plummer, Mr. Keelan Seabolt, or Ms. Mandisa Vinson.

With AP® Exams just around the corner, encourage your AP teachers and students to take advantage of AP Daily: Practice Sessions—a new video resource designed to help students review course content and practice applying what they’ve learned throughout the school year.
