Summer School 2024


Option One


Chamblee HS will offer face-to-face summer school from May 28, 2024- June 18, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday-Thursday. Bus transportation is available, and students will receive breakfast and a bag lunch.  Students who have previously failed a course may take one (1) class and earn .5 credits through the face-to-face program. Eligible students will receive a letter about this program this week and must return the letter with parental signatures by Friday, May 3, 2024, to enroll and secure transportation. 



Option Two


Registration is now open for FLEX Academy summer school. Interested students should stop by the counseling office to pick up a packet and discuss enrollment with their counselor. 


• FLEX Academy Summer School will be offered to current 9-12 grade students with priority registration given to Cohort 2024 students. These courses are initial credit courses and have no prior enrollment requirements.

• FLEX Summer Credit Recovery will be offered to students in grades 9 -12. Students must have been previously enrolled in the course with a final grade between 55-69. Cohort 2024 students with a grade of prior final grade of 40- 69 will be considered.


Option Three


Students who failed a course with a grade of 55-69 may also retake the course through GA Virtual Credit Recovery. This is a totally online, teacher less course. Courses will start as early as May 23rd and must be completed by July 19, 2024. Interested students should see their counselor to discuss their options. 


NOTE: Students may earn a maximum of 2.0 credit hours during the summer, inclusive of all summer school programs. Students should not enroll in a summer school program until it has been approved by their school counselor.

SENIORS! We need you to update your email address in Naviance. Although you did the exit survey, the information is not synced so you need to manually update your email address. We've been informed that we can't release your diploma is this isn't done so please take care of this today. See instructions in the flyer below.

Senior Final Transcripts


All colleges will require graduating students to send a final transcript to show proof of graduation. Seniors should request their final transcript through Naviance by May 10, 2024. Go to Naviance, click Colleges at the top, click Manage Transcripts, click the blue plus sign to request your final transcript. NOTE: Transcripts will not be sent automatically. Students must submit a request.  Transcripts will be sent by the end of June 2024.

Chamblee High School's Graduation has been scheduled for May 11, 2024, at 9:00am.  Location is the GSU Convocation Center.  More information to follow soon.

Student Scholarships, Grants, and Aid
POSSE

 POSSE is looking for its next group of talented Scholars: motivated, dynamic, actively engaged students who believe they belong at the nation’s best colleges and universities. Chamblee HS can nominate up to 10 current juniors to begin the rigorous Posse Scholar selection process and to potentially win a four year full tuition scholarship to either Bard College, Boston University, Brandeis University, The College of Wooster, The George Washington University, or Texas A&M University. Please review the POSSE website and explore the colleges at possefoundation.org. Research our six college and university partners.  Interested students should be willing to commit to one of the colleges mentioned during the application process and must apply Early Decision.  Nominees should be able to demonstrate leadership and academic potential. This is a Merit-based leadership scholarship.  This is not a minority, low-income, or need-based scholarship.   


Interested juniors need to submit a resume that includes the following information.  


First and Last Name

Sex/Gender

home address

personal email address

cell phone number (& home #, if applicable)


A short essay explaining the following.


1) Explain leadership skills and ability to work with others.

2) Why would you be a good fit for the POSSE college/university selected? 


Resume and essays should be submitted via email to Mrs. Claudman @ Wylene_Ward-Claudman@dekalbschoolsga.org in the Counseling Office Friday, May 3, 2024, email submissions will be accepted until 11:59 pm
