The internship team at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) are writing to announce that the 2024 pre-application for GTRI's High School Summer Internship Program is now open. As such, we would like to invite eligible Chamblee High School students (see below) to apply for a paid opportunity to work alongside the best problem-solvers in the research and development enterprise. The most important requirement to keep in mind is that all high school students must complete the 2024 pre-application as a first-step. Furthermore, for your awareness:
- only students who complete a 2024 pre-applicationbefore the deadline will be eligible for an internship,
- no additional student(s) will be permitted to complete a pre-application once it closes, and
- the pre-application will close on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 11:59pm [Deadline].
The pre-application will be used to match the applicant with GTRI employment opportunities. Please note that completion of the pre-application is not a guarantee of employment. If any of your student(s) are selected following a successful phone-screen interview, they will receive a conditional employment offer and will be required to complete a full-application.
To be eligible for an internship, all prospective interns must:
- Show proof of citizenship or US person status (NISPOM 2-208, EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15)
- Note #1: Most, but not all, positions require US Citizenship because of the nature of the project or information to which the student may have access during the internship.
- Note #2: GTRI does not sponsor H1B visas
- Be a Georgia resident attending a public, private, charter or home school in Georgia.
- Be at least 16 years old before the deadline for completing the full application (April 1, 2024).
- Be in the high school graduating class of 2024, 2025, or 2026.
- Have reliable transportation to assigned work location (Housing is not provided).
- Beable to work from June 10, 2024 to July 19, 2024, during Georgia Tech's regular business hours (M-F, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.).
- Note #3: Interns are not permitted to work on weekends or after hours.
- Attend an all-daySTEM@GTRI orientation on June 10, 2024.
- Note #4: If you miss the orientation, your GTRI internship offer will be rescinded.
- Attend and participate in an all-day final presentation on July 19, 2024.
- Beavailable to work 24 hours/week for five weeks (more than 24 hr/wk will not be approved).
- Note #5: Interns are not allowed to work on weekends or after hours (work will only be permitted M-F 8am-5pm)
- Note #6: Work will be in-person only.
- Attend any lab-specific safety training (if it applies to interns' activity/location, e.g. wet-lab or machine shop training).
